Choice Healthcare is currently hiring a FEMALE certified DSW to provide complex care for a client requiring consistent supervision, strong behavioural support skills, and confident clinical care delivery.

Must be available for 35 hours biweekly across mornings and afternoons/ early evenings for 5 days a week with days off being Thursday and Friday.

 Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide constant supervision and safety monitoring at all times
  • Assist with all aspects of personal care including bathing, hygiene, and toileting
  • Support mobility and seizure safety precautions according to established care plans
  • Administer support for medication routines and adherence
  • Provide community support and supervision during outings
  • Communicate effectively using simple, calm, consistent approaches suited to non-verbal communication styles (gestures, facial expressions, cues)
  • Apply positive behaviour support strategies and safe de-escalation techniques when required
  • Recognize and respond immediately to early signs of distress, escalation, or behavioural change
  • Maintain structured, predictable, trauma-informed care routines
  • Complete accurate documentation and timely reporting of all care and safety concerns

 

Choice Healthcare is seeking candidates who have:

  • Skills in confidently managing high-intensity, complex care situations with professionalism and compassion.
  • Certification as DSW/CSW or equivalent (PSWs or foreign trained health professionals with proven track record of working with similar cases may be considered)
  • Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, or Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
  • Experience supporting individuals with epilepsy/seizure disorders and complex behavioural needs
  • Proven ability to work with individuals who are primarily non-verbal communicators
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, controlled, and effective during behavioural escalation
  • Experience and skills in de-escalation, redirection, and crisis prevention strategies
  • High level of comfort working in a high-supervision, fast-response care environment
  • The physical ability to support mobility assistance, transfers, and the full range of  personal care tasks
  • Proficiency in communicating in English (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated a commitment to client care through reliable attendance and flexibility
  • Availability to work every other weekend
  • Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset
  • Reliable mobile device with internet access
  • High energy and drive to deliver excellent care through strong communication skills
  • A current vulnerable sectors check (completed within the past 12 months)
  • A negative TB skin test or chest x-ray (completed within the past 12 months)
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with proof of insurance

Legal eligibility to work in Canada as a Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or temporary residents of Canada with a valid work permit with a minimum of six months prior to expiration.
